Corona self-tests for at home are in short supply.
The demand currently exceeds the supply.
The first retailers are limiting their per capita sales in order to enable as many customers as possible to purchase.
Munich - In the summer, Corona self-tests for household use were junk goods.
Some of the test kits were left unobserved and unintentionally on the shelves at 50 cents each.
But 2G +, new corona regulations for Christmas and increased numbers of infections are driving up the demand for the tests.
The prices are also increasing accordingly.
Self-tests are often in short supply in drugstores, supermarkets or pharmacies.
If you want to buy a test for at home, you often find yourself in front of an empty shelf.
Rossmann: Delivery quantity limited to ten tests
"The demand for corona self-tests has risen sharply in the last few weeks," confirms Dirk Rossmann GmbH
when asked by Merkur.de
.
Because of this, there could be bottlenecks in the branches.
"In order to currently enable as many customers as possible to purchase self-tests, the amount to be submitted is limited to ten tests per customer."
Demand has been increasing since November
It was actually predictable that school, the fourth wave and the increased number of infections would increase the demand for corona self-tests and masks.
In November, dm managing director Sebastian Bayer confirmed the
Tagesschau
similarly.
"At the moment, due to fluctuating demand and disrupted supply chains, not all products are always available in sufficient quantities."
Corona tests: General differences between PCR and rapid test
The PCR test is usually carried out by trained medical personnel.
Not the patient himself. PCR tests are suitable for testing people for SARS-CoV-2 or to verify a positive rapid antigen test.
In contrast to the PCR test, you receive your test result within a few minutes, which, however, is not as precise as the PCR test.
If you test yourself positive, you should also do a PCR test.
