(ANSA) - CATANZARO, DEC 14 - Two life sentences were administered by the Assize Court of Catanzaro to the alleged mandants of the murder of Matteo Vinci, 42-year-old biologist from Limbadi (ViboValentia), killed with a bomb placed in the car he was traveling in on April 9 2018 and the attempted murder of his father Francesco who was with him and was seriously injured. The convicted are Rosaria Mancuso, 66, and her son-in-law Vito Barbara, 31. The aggravating mafia has been excluded from the charges. The murder, for the accusation, was aimed at punishing the Vinci family who did not want to sell some land to the neighboring Grillo-Mancuso, related to the Mancuso clan.
In addition to the two life sentences, the judges of the Assize Court of Catanzaro sentenced Domenico DiGrillo, 73, husband of Rosaria Mancuso, to 10 years of imprisonment, accused of the attempted murder of Francesco Vinci for an assault that took place in 2017 in which Vinci reported the fracture of the jaw.
Three years and six months in prison were inflicted on Lucia DiGrillo, 31, daughter of Domenico Di Grillo and Rosaria Mancuso and wife of Vito Barbara, who is accused, along with other family members, of personal injury to FrancescoVinci and his wife Rosaria Scarpulla, for an attack that took place in 2014 and which, according to the accusation, constitutes one of the episodes of harassment that the Vinci have suffered by Mancuso-Di Grillo. The Vinci family, assisted by the lawyer Giuseppe De Pace, never yielded to the requests of their neighbors, also initiating a series of civil and legal proceedings. The final answer, according to the investigations, would have been the car bomb placed under Francesco Vinci's Ford Fiesta, driven by his only son Matteo. In the defense board the lawyers Francesco Capria,Gianfranco Giunta, Mario Santambrogio, Giovanni Vecchio, Fabrizio Costarella and StefaniaRania.
Francesco Vinci and his wife have always been present in the courtroom at all stages of the trial.
As far as the alleged material executors are concerned, the trial with an abbreviated procedure that sees Antonio Criniti and Filippo De Marco accused.
According to the accusation, it was they who planted the bomb under the Vinci car.
