Why do women need more hours of sleep than men?
("Story in a Minute" system)
Good sleep is a basic commodity for our body to function at its best.
Sleep poses can affect our bones, muscles, spine and breathing patterns, with the three main poses being on the back, side and abdomen.
Sleep expert and founder of Wowbeds Gary Ginsberg, explains that sleeping on the back is best for our health, followed by sleeping on the side and finally sleeping on the stomach - its has the most health disadvantages.

According to Ginsberg, sleeping on the side reduces pain and sleep disturbances while sleeping on the back supports the spine and reduces wrinkles.
Those who sleep on the abdomen, however, are more likely to develop deviation in the back and neck, in addition to wrinkles on the face.
The expert revealed to dailymail what are the health benefits and disadvantages of each pose - and what does your preferred pose attest to your personality?

So how does each pose affect our health?
Sleeping on your back
Sleeping on your back is the ideal position to support your spine.
It can also reduce chronic pain, allergies and the formation of fine lines on your face.
While this sleeping position may provide good physical support for many, it is important to remain symmetrical, as asymmetries can affect spinal alignment.
If you are pregnant, suffer from acid reflux, snoring or sleep apnea - sleep in this position should be avoided.
Sleeping on the side
Sleeping on the side is a pose with great benefits.
It can reduce pain and is ideal for pregnant women and those suffering from acid reflux.
The 3 most common side positions are 'left versus right', 'curled fetal position' and 'craving', with your arms outstretched forward.
This is a popular pose for many, but for those who suffer from shoulder pain, jaw lock or are worried about wrinkle formation, this is not the pose for them.

Sleeping on Your Stomach
Unfortunately, sleeping on your stomach comes with more disadvantages than advantages, as it can distort your body.
The spine is forced to stretch to an unnatural position while the thighs and abdomen sink into the mattress.
This position also tends to create wrinkles due to heavy pressure applied to the face.
However, if you have difficulty letting go of sleep on your stomach, choose a thinner pillow and a firmer mattress.
Maintaining good sleep patterns requires practice but is possible.
To help change position, choose the perfect pillow and sleeping space you need.
Although quality bedding is definitely essential for a good night's sleep - finding the right mattress, pillow and support, depending on your sleeping position, will make a difference.
