It may still take some time until the basic child benefits envisaged by the Ampel coalition are implemented.
An immediate supplement for families with low incomes is planned to bridge the gap.
In the coalition agreement, the SPD, FDP and the Greens
agreed
on
basic child
security.
It is intended to bundle previous financial support services such as child benefit and benefits for children in Hartz IV households.
The basic child security is primarily intended to relieve families with little money.

"We will still determine the exact amount," said Spiegel in an interview with the RND about the immediate surcharge planned by the traffic light parties.
When asked whether the surcharge should be 10 to 25 euros per child per month, she replied: “This is the direction we are going.” According to her, 2.7 million children in Germany would benefit from it.
According to the Federal Family Minister, the planned immediate surcharge for children in poor families should be graded according to age.
