Nationwide spice recall: Carcinogenic pesticides found in product

Grocery wholesale Schönwölkau recalls dried cardamom.

In almost all federal states a spice was sold that has now been recalled by the distributor of the product.

It contains pollutants.

Schönwölkau - Residues of pesticides and pesticides have been found in the dried cardamom (Thao Qua) of the Asia food wholesaler Schönwölkau.

That's why the company recalled the product.

Affected is the batch, which can be kept until August 20, 2023 and has a net fill weight of 100 grams.

The information can be found on the label, according to a press release from the company.

Recall of cardamom: Product was sold in almost all of Germany

However, the recall is not limited to just one state.

Affected are: Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Saxony, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.

The product was offered in several wholesale and retail stores for Asian products and delivered to restaurants - also nationwide.

The dried cardamom has been recalled.

According to food wholesalers, the pesticide and pesticide anthraquinone found has carcinogenic potential - in other words, it can cause cancer and also damage health if consumed.

Cardamom recalled: consumers should return product

After the company had proven the agent, it said it immediately withdrew the product from the market.

Consumers are asked to stop using the cardamom and send it back.

The same is true for end users who purchased the product from the Asian grocery store.
