Roasted almonds *, Feuerzangenbowle, chocolate fruits: There are many culinary
Christmas market classics
that sweeten the Advent season until Christmas Eve. If the Christmas markets fail in many places this year, you don't have to go without it: just make the delicacies yourself at home! This also applies to crispy hand bread
with a delicious mushroom filling and cheese
. All you have to do is prepare a bread dough, roll it out, fill it, fold it up and put it in the oven. Easy as pie - and so delicious! Clever trick: Instead of having to wait for a yeast dough or sourdough, we make do with a baking mix, which makes the recipe even faster.

Recipe for homemade handbread: this is how it works
Prepare the
bread dough
according to the instructions on the packet and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
Then divide it in half.
For the filling, clean and cut the
mushrooms
into slices, peel and dice the
onion
.
Fry both with a little
oil
in a pan.
Season with
salt
and
pepper
.
Roll out the dough halves separately into rectangles on a work surface and fill them with 150 g of
cheese
and the fried mushrooms.
Then close the bread rolls and place them with the closed side facing down on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Let the loaves rise for another 45 minutes.
Preheat
the oven to
200 ° C top / bottom heat
and bake the bread rolls for 20-25 minutes.
They should be nicely browned and sound hollow when you tap them, then they're done.
Serve hot.
A dollop of
sour cream
or
crème fraîche goes well with it
.
The handbreads taste great as a warm snack between meals and are also well suited when friends come to visit, because they don't make a lot of work.
Enjoy your meal!
