These are only a few cents taken from my salary per month, but they can change things at the level of the company

", welcomes Béatrice, who works in the prevention department of the MGEN mutual.

Last year, thanks to her monthly deductions (the salary is rounded down to the nearest euro), she paid a total of 5 euros to the Institut Curie, an amount doubled by her employer.

Like her, 522,000 employees retroceded a small part of their pay in 2021. These are almost 75,000 more than in 2020. These micro donations, launched in 2011 by the eponymous company, are entirely donated to associations, most often chosen by employees following a vote.

Only companies with more than 200 employees can offer to take part in the system.

They were 700 in 2021 (RATP, Maif, Nestlé, etc.), up 6.9% over one year, notably joined by Renault, Orange and Banque Postale Asset Management.

Why such a boom?

More and more studies are highlighting a link between the economic performance of companies and their CSR policy (corporate social responsibility).

It would energize the employees.

Like Béatrice: “

The initiative is superb!

What particularly pleases me is the sustainability of the donation.

The gesture is simple and aligns my values with those of MGEN, a non-profit company

7 million euros raised

Since the launch of microDON in 2011, fundraising has exceeded 7 million euros, including 1.8 million euros from January to November 2021. Between 2015 and 2021, it has multiplied by nearly 10. Each employee has on average offered 3.5 euros per month in 2020. Remember that these donations benefit from a tax exemption: between 66% and 75% depending on the associations supported.

Among the 176 supported in 2020, Planète Urgence, Fondation de l'AP-HP and Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque received 182,167, 84,664 and 78,415 euros respectively.

Still according to microDON, eight out of ten companies provide their employees with more money: a complement that goes from double to triple the amount initially paid. “

This is the case with the Renault Group Foundation, which matches 100% of donations. For one euro collected, we donate an additional euro to the associations [Les Restos du Cœur, Emmaüs Connect, Secours populaire and Institut de l'Engagement]

”, comments its deputy director Sophie Chazelle. “

Since March 2021, Renault France employees have been generous since they have paid an average of 3.38 euros per month [the group has limited the donation to 5 euros]

".

Sophie Chazelle indicates that the salary donation is set to grow, from next year, since it is not yet open to all employees of the group in France.
