Firas Nassar (28) has starred in films such as "Dancing Arabs", "Foxtrot" and "Not Here, Not There", and in series such as "Virgins", but most of his fame came when he played the main villain al-Maqdisi in the second season of "Fauda".

The actor, who was born in Nazareth, is currently starring in the American series "Invasion", which was recently streamed on the streaming service Apple TV Plus, and is being rehearsed for the show "Onegin. Footnotes", which will be staged at the Gesher Theater at the end of the month.

"Invasion," renewed last week for a second season, is a science-fiction drama that unfolds a horrific scenario of an invasion of hostile aliens to Earth, which threatens to destroy humanity.

The plot is told from the perspectives of five different characters, each of whom tries to survive the chaos you landed on Earth in surprise.

Nassar plays Ahmad "Manny" Malik, who is captured by the invasion and his wife Anisha (Gulshifta Farhani, "Tyler Rake: Rescue") in a marriage crisis.

Anisha has revealed that Manny is cheating on her and that he plans to leave her, but the unforeseen circumstances change the plans of the couple and their two children, and they are forced to flee their home on Long Island to save their lives.

The series was created by screenwriter David Weil ("Hunters," "Twilight Zone") along with Simon Kinberg, the successful producer and director who signed on for the "X-Men" series.

Kinberg, who has become the most lucrative screenwriter in film history in the past two decades, was also nominated for an Oscar for his 2015 film "Save Mark Watney" starring Matt Damon.

For Nassar, this is the first foothold in an American series.

"We started filming in New York a few months before Corona, and in the middle of working on the seventh episode, everything stopped," he says.

"I moved there, and it disrupted my plans. I wanted to be in the country during the Corona, it's the best place to be in such circumstances."

He said the "Invasion" series was one of the first productions to be re-filmed after the closure. "On the set there was a serious strictness regarding the corona restrictions. It actually contributed to the apocalyptic atmosphere of the series. On the set the actors were isolated. We could not see each other between the shots to keep us going. This loneliness allowed us to better understand what was going on in the series. And the concern for your loved ones. "

According to him, the main difference between an Israeli and an American production is the budget. According to estimates, the budget of "Invasion" is estimated at a particularly high amount, of $ 200 million. "When there is more money there are other conditions, but you also have to deal with and learn the different codes at work in the US," he says. . Each character from a different place, the main protagonists are women. Streaming platforms want to reach audiences all over the world, and there is a huge difference than five years ago. Consciousness opens up. "

Do you still recognize yourself from "Fauda"?

"When I'm with a beard (laughs). I'm not used to it yet. Sometimes I walk down the street with headphones on and do not understand why they are looking at me."
