An auction of dozens of possessions by the late Argentine soccer idol Diego Maradona has turned out to be a failure: at the online auction on Sunday evening, the largest items turned out to be slow-moving.
A house that Maradona had bought for his parents remained without buyers, as were two BMWs and an apartment by the sea.
According to the organizers, more than 1,500 bidders from all over the world had registered for the auction.
Items with an estimated value of around 1.4 million dollars remained.
The highest bid for $ 2,150 went to the painting "Between Fiorito and Heaven," which the artist Lu Sedova of Maradona had painted.
In second place was a photo of the footballer with the former Cuban head of state Fidel Castro, which went to a bidder from Dubai for 1,600 dollars.
After all, a bidder from Germany was worth $ 270 for training pants that Maradona had worn on a visit to Borussia Dortmund.
The auction was ordered by the Argentine judiciary to settle Maradona's debts.
The court must now decide what to do with the properties that have not been sold.
Maradona is considered to be one of the best footballers of all time.
The life of the world champion from 1986 was marked by drug and alcohol addiction after his active career.
He died of a heart attack on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60.
