The summit to discuss the election of the head of state before Christmas "seems possible to me. I will ask the friends of the center-right to meet us already this week". Lega leader Matteo Salvini said this on the sidelines of the Christmas toast in Milan with supporters and militants, excluding a postponement of the meeting to January.

"Draghi is working well and it would be good if he continued to work for our country, without questioning everything", added Salvini.

"I doubt that there will be a summit before Christmas due to parliamentary commitments, but I do not rule it out. Certainly for the Brothers of Italy there are no problems in meeting to talk about the elections for the head of state. We hope it will be useful: we are everyone agrees on Silvio Berlusconi's option but we go blindly, in the sense that we hope his victory but if this were not the case, we should imagine hypotheses B and C and all agree. But the latter are still premature hypotheses " .

This was said by Ignazio La Russa, a senator of the Brothers of Italy questioned by Ansa about the center-right summit on the Quirinale.
