Trouble in the Kingdom: The Second Season of "Kingdom" | Israel today

2021-12-19T06:53:50.450Z

HOT's original action comedy has everything a light-hearted series needs: a great idea, a dreamy cast, and a high-budget production.

The good news: "Kingdom" returns to us for a second season after being sold to HBO in Latin America.

The Not-so-News: It looks like something written for the bored viewers of the telenovela homeland, who are used to digest absurd and hole-filled plots like Pinata at the end of a birthday.

In the first season of the comedy-action series, which Hot insists on calling it "cult" even though it is not, "Queen" certainly surprised with an original idea full of female empowerment: The men are killed, and the sailors' loved ones left on the beach inherit the care of the family's assets.

In season two the queens have to deal with troubles that put them in danger of bankruptcy.

Lizzie (Dana Ivgi) tries to save what is left of the business, and discovers that not all the girls in the kingdom are with her on the same yacht.

Dori (Rita) and Tzipi (Orly Zilbershtz) quarrel with the Jubrans and their Eritrean partners, and Lizzie and Sapir jump into Russia to quarrel with a psychopathic Russian mobster and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

It sounds ridiculous, but it's definitely like that.

Malchut has everything a light-hearted series needs: a great idea for a plot that breaks a genre in our criminal world concepts as well, a dream cast in Israeli concepts, and a high-budget production.

But the plot is scribbled and unbelievable, and also, the "exits" of the talented cast from the lyrics do not make it more than a low-calorie piece.

The perforated plot is tried to save a Trentino edit and a comic soundtrack, which allows the creators to convey the message "Hey, this is a light-hearted comedy, flow," but then come dramatic scenes, especially by Dana Ivgi, and viewers ask themselves, "What do these queens really want?".

For a series that airs at the end of Thursday, when you close a week with your tongue out and just want to get away from another "singer in a mask," it can go through a spin, but a cult series it does not.
