We are facing a wave of renewed eruption of the corona.

The spread of the omicron strain in Israel and around the world is worrying and requires appropriate preparation and a change in public behavior.

It is already clear that the rate of infection in the new strain is extremely fast.

In different countries, the omicron strain is spreading at breakneck speed, thus effectively replacing the delta strain.

Although the rapid rate of infection of the variant is already a fait accompli, it is too early to predict the severity of the disease: one can hope for the best, but one must prepare for the worse possibility.

The coefficient of infection in Israel continues to rise, and yet most of the infections in Israel are due to the Delta strain.

Closing the sky for entry from red countries and non-Israeli citizens was a quick step taken as a lesson from the slow and passive response to the entry of the Delta strain into Israel as early as April.

This step allowed us to buy time that we must take advantage of, first and foremost for the purpose of raising the rate of immunization.

The vaccine is safe and effective, and there is already enough information from Israel and the world.

The vaccine must be given as optimally and flexibly as possible.

In my opinion, vaccination of children in schools should have been done long ago, not just by vaccine mobility.

Israel stores in schools another place in the country, and now we see the weighty implications of privatizing health care for the student, something that has been evident since the beginning of the corona, even before the vaccines entered the arena.

The school serves as one of the important sites in health promotion, addressing the physical, mental and social aspects.

It is important to emphasize that even if there is a certain decrease in the effectiveness of the vaccine to prevent infection with the omicron strain, the vaccine is of great importance.

Anyone who is vaccinated as recommended (including a third dose if more than five months have passed since receiving the second vaccine) is protected, as far as we know, from a serious illness, hospitalization and death.

But now is the time not only for vaccines, but also for strengthening the exhausted health system.

There is an ongoing erosion of the issue, and the resources and manpower promised must be allocated to both hospitals and the community.

One must place the field of health at the top of national priority and understand that there is much to be done in the face of the corona.

It is important to remember that protecting public health requires building resilience and trust, encouraging immunization, strengthening the health care system, and adhering to health behavior at the individual, community, and state levels.

Even in challenging times, one must remain calm and act in an accurate and proportionate manner, while continuing the activity of life as much as possible.

In such a complex period in which we live, there is no point in forceful measures that are not applicable or ineffective.

The way to encourage health behavior and respond to recommendations is through consistency, a clear strategy and joint action with the public.

We are all tired of the corona, but it stays with us and we have many tools to deal with it.

This must be done wisely: it is a marathon run that requires partnership and solidarity.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
