The rapper Drakeo the Ruler, 28, was stabbed to death during the "Once upon a Time" music festival in Los Angeles.
The musician should appear at the festival himself on Saturday evening, as reported by CNN.
Other rappers like Snoop Dog or 50 Cent should also have performed.
Apparently Drakeo the Ruler had an argument with someone backstage, then a brawl broke out.
"During the confrontation, a man was injured by a suspect with a sharp weapon," the police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he died from serious injuries.
After the incident, the organizers ended the festival.
The police are now investigating how the conflict came about, reports the New York Times.
It is still unclear whether anyone has been arrested.
The songs of Drakeo the Ruler, whose real name was Darrell Caldwell, were last heard by 1.5 million users on Spotify.
