(ANSA) - BEIJING, DECEMBER 20 - The turnout in the elections of Hong Kong's 'patriots' dropped to 30.2%, the first held with the new system imposed by Beijing to entrust control of the city in safe and faithful hands: despite the 14 hours of polling, only 1,350,680 registered voters voted out of a total of 4,472,863.
The data were released this morning.
The previous all-time low was in 2000, with an overall turnout close to 45%, while at the last round of elections in 2016 the final figure was close to 60%.
