A success also caught by cybercriminals, who have started a series of activities to deceive web users, taking advantage of the hype behind the work of Jon Watts.
Analyzes by cybersecurity company Kaspersky indicate a considerable increase in Spider-Man-themed phishing emails.
The technique is used by hackers to encourage the opening of files or websites indicated in an e-mail message, trying to infect victims' computers and smartphones, violate their access and possibly steal their contents, even for the purpose of blackmail. Researchers have unearthed numerous pages designed to steal the banking data of Spider-Man No Way Home fans. The hook for deception is the possibility of enjoying the film in first run, from your own home, in streaming. To do this, users are forced to register their personal data, including credit card details, on the bogus web page.
In addition to streaming, the criminals have also created sites from which they promise to be able to download Spider-Man in preview.
However, Kaspersky has discovered that the programs used to fetch the alleged film contain Trojan-type viruses which, by appropriating the administrator rights of the infected device, can perform unauthorized actions on it.
The invitation, as always in these cases, is to pay close attention to the emails you receive.
It would always be advisable to avoid entering sensitive information online on little-known sites, checking that the address bar initially contains a padlock, which partially verifies its authenticity.
Also pay attention to downloaded files: an .exe or .msi format is never associated with videos.
