The Hollywood Academy has announced the nominations for 10 of its categories.
Among them the one for the Oscar for best international film, in which Spanish-speaking people have entered

by Fernando León, for Spain;
Night of Fire,
by Tatiana Huezo, for Mexico, and
Plaza Catedral,
by Abner Benaim, for Panama.

(Denmark),

(Finland),
Lamb
(Iceland) and
The worst person in the world
(Norway). The big favorite continues to be the Japanese
Drive My Car,
by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, with Fue
la mano de Dios,
by Paolo Sorrentino (Italy) and
Un hero,
by Asghar Farhadi (Iran) as rivals to beat. Other strong rivals have also entered such as the Austrian
Great Freedom
or the Belgian
Un mundo mejor (Playground).
And they complete the fifteen preselected
Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom
(Bhutan) and
Hive
(Kosovo).
In the other nine categories that have announced their pre-candidacies - all the candidacies will be read on February 8, and the Oscars will be delivered on March 27 - the name of Alberto Iglesias appears thanks to his score of
Parallel Mothers
in best soundtrack.
The composer from San Sebastian has already been a candidate on three previous occasions.
