The new traffic light government has made a lot of plans in its coalition agreement.

Employees are also affected by changes.

An overview.

The coalition agreement 2021 * between the SPD, Greens and FDP contains various changes for people in Germany.

Our overview shows which of these affect employees, students and trainees.

1. Minimum wage

One of the most important changes in the coalition agreement affects the wages of millions of employees: The minimum wage is to increase in a one-off step from the current EUR 9.60 to EUR

12

.

After that, the minimum wage commission should again set the lower wage limit.

Before that, however, the minimum wage will increase again as planned on January 1, 2022.

2. Working hours

Little changes in working hours for the time being: The traffic light coalition wants to stick to the

8-hour day

.

But as early as 2022, the federal government wants to create a temporary regulation that will enable employees to organize their working hours more flexibly through collective agreements.

The maximum working time of temporarily up to ten hours per day is also being scrutinized.

3. Home office

The previous home office flat rate will still be available to employees in 2022.

Employees can therefore use 5 euros for each day in their home office in their tax return, up to a maximum of 600 euros per year.

4. Mini job

In the case of mini-jobs, the traffic light government is planning

to raise

the limit

from 450 euros to 520 euros

.

In addition, mini-jobbers expect further changes from January 1, 2022.

According to the coalition agreement, the midi job limit for positions with reduced social security contributions is to increase from 1,300 euros to 1,600 euros.

5. Training

All young people should be

guaranteed

an

apprenticeship

position that "enables access to fully qualifying vocational training, always with priority in the company", says the coalition agreement.

6. Continuing education

The SPD, Greens and FDP are planning to improve further training in several steps.

So should a

training part time, about to

catch up a vocational qualification or be introduced for a career change, as a

qualifying money.

For job seekers, there should be a

further training allowance

in the amount of 150 euros, as well as an entitlement to at least three months of unemployment benefit after further training.

For people who are unemployed and have basic social security, fully qualifying

training

courses are funded as part of continuing vocational training - regardless of their duration.

7. Student loan

The getting on in years Bafög wants to fundamentally reform the traffic light government.

In this way, the educational

grant should be paid

longer and more

independently of the parents' income

, and should take the rising rents into account.

There is also more money to be paid for master student loans and advanced training in apprenticeships.

The so-called

“Lebenschancen-Bafög”

is also intended to enable all employees to have lifelong learning.

Also on others

Employees will have to be prepared for innovations in 2022, for example when it comes to sick leave

.
