(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, DEC 21 - Victory above all predictions for the party of West Bengal governor Mamata Banerjee in the municipal elections in Kolkata, the state capital, held yesterday.
His Trinamool Congress had an avalanche of votes, obtaining 92.36% of the votes and 134 seats out of 144.
The BJP, the premier's party, comes in second, with just three of the five seats it previously held.
The result confirms that of the state elections last summer, when the formation led by Banerjee won 213 seats out of the 294 in the assembly.
In a tweet announcing that she had wiped out all the others, Banerjee congratulated those elected for the job and recalled "the commitment to serve those who have elect us with the utmost diligence and gratitude. I thank one to one voters of the municipality who they have trusted us once again ".
