A librarian at Watkins Elementary School in Washington DC asked her students to act out the Holocaust.
According to the Washington Post, they should dig mass graves for their classmates and simulate shooting them.
The school employee was therefore suspended.
She is said to have even assigned certain roles to the students, and she is said to have cast a student of Jewish faith as Adolf Hitler.
At the end of the role play, he was supposed to pretend he was killing himself.
So it comes from an e-mail from the headmaster MScott Berkowitz to parents, as the "Washington Post" reports on.
The role play took place last Friday - the school employee has since been suspended.
Berkowitz apologized to parents for the incident and wrote in the email that students should never be asked to re-enact atrocities, particularly genocide, war or murder.
The librarian is said to have made anti-Semitic statements during the role play.
When the children asked why the Germans did all this, she is reported to have said because the Jews ruined Christmas.
The clerk reportedly also asked the students not to tell anyone about the role play.
