In recent weeks, there has once again been a feeling that the corona plague is behind us - and a new wave is already beginning: the omicron wave.
This strain is characterized by a significant genetic change, the nature of which we do not yet fully understand.
Even the preliminary data from the world are not completely clear.
However, apparently, this is a highly contagious variant of its predecessors.
In Europe and the United States the numbers are growing significantly, and in some countries such as England the health care system is close to insufficiency. The severity of the disease in this strain is still unclear, and the data are contradictory. .
This wave, too, is not committed to reality, and there is an effective and safe way to avoid it: the vaccine.
Every day more research and information is added on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
This is the way any citizen can take part in the war on the plague and avoid its complications.
I am aware of the fact that there are many parents who are afraid to vaccinate their children.
The concern is understandable, but not justified.
The available information indicates that the vaccine is safe and provides protection for the Long Covid phenomenon, which endangers children and causes significant heart disease.
I urge parents to contact pediatricians to get reliable and up-to-date information regarding the benefits of the vaccine, and to help you make the right decision for your children's health.
From the available data, there is no doubt that a third vaccine provides significant protection against disease, and certainly severe disease.
Another challenge facing us is winter, and with it its own morbidity, which adds to the overcrowding and worn-out crews who have been standing for almost two years in the harsh war against the plague.
At this time we need the help of the citizens.
We can not fight this war alone.
We are already seven battles.
In my ward out of more than 100 patients, only two were fully vaccinated!
The numbers are clear and unquestionable.
The vaccine works.
