"The Omicron will eventually reach nursing homes and staff have already begun to prepare extensively for this, including a recommendation to give a fourth booster to all nursing homes."
This is what Professor Nimrod Maimon said today (Tuesday), a protector of the Magen Avot and Mothers project to deal with the corona plague in "Israel Today."
"We have been in an orderly program for the protection of the elderly public in Israel living in nursing homes and community housing for two years now.
Maimon added that he is in favor of giving a booster shot to the entire adult public in the country.
"There's a real discussion about it tonight and I would highly recommend. We've seen how good the booster is, and how much the older public has no serious side effects at all. They have at most suffered some local pain or fever," he said.
"Therefore, giving another dose will only further strengthen the immunity of all our parents and fathers and will do them good. In general, in terms of the booster, we vaccinated the entire public living in August, and our staff and the level of immunization is 95 percent."

In addition to another dose, Prof. Maimon notes that in the run-up to the fifth wave, the various precautionary measures in nursing homes in the country will be intensified.
"First, the omicron will come to us eventually. In the meantime, God willing, he is not with us and I know this because everyone who is sick in nursing homes then directly sequences the virus he has contracted to identify and see what he has."
Maimon added: "Because the working assumption is that he will come, so we increased the tests, if until now we did a PCR test once a week, we have now introduced alongside this test also fast antigen tests and so the sequence of tests and protection is much wider than there is outside. We are really working to protect. The best possible for nursing homes in the country. "
