This is how chips are made at a McDonald's branch in Australia (@ maccaschick / Tiktok)
An employee of a McDonald's branch in Australia reveals the "disgusting" truth about how to make the chips, in a video that might make you give up now and go for your favorite junk food - at least in branches abroad. Although many choose a small portion of chips Only as the healthier option on the menu, in a short video, which later won two sequels, the worker is seen sweeping up scraps of chips, oil and salt and showing viewers the "orchard" left on the bottom of the chips tray after a day's work.
Australian tic-tac-toe user, maccaschick, shared eye-popping videos on fast-food leftover chips scraping the layers of fat and leftover chips at the bottom of the tray into a large metal dish usually designed to rake the ready-made chips into its small cardboard packaging.
"I'm trying to stay healthy. I'll only take chips for myself," she wrote in the video, claiming she often heard customers with healthy food ads throw in that comment before ordering.
"Are you sure about that?" Read one of the videos, which garnered more than 5.4 million views.

In the comments, many swore that they would never eat at McDonald's again, while others said that the video only reinforced their belief that chips are not the healthiest option on the net. "Fried food is unhealthy ... what a surprise. You renewed it for us," one commented cynically and another added: "That's why I hate French fries." Another wrote: "No one thought fries were a healthy thing and whoever chose to give up the hamburger and order only fries - did himself no favors." One viewer swore, "After seeing this video, I do not intend to return to McDonald's ever again."
In another video, @maccaschick also showed what's going on under the chips tray - a kind of oil and salt trap in an amount that is enough for one whole serving of chips. However, she clarifies: "People please understand, this is not the chips. These are the oil and salt left over at the end of the day. It does not affect the taste of your chips. It is just the residue under the strainer, after making 1,000 strips of chipsIt's a day. "

One viewer explained: "What you do not understand is that what you see in the videos is not what is presented to you, but what is inside what is presented to you - and that is what should shock you."
Others were not shocked: "You have to do a lot more to keep me away from McDonald's chips," one reporter and another added: "I would happily eat from the bottom tray, it looks like salty mashed potatoes."
Another viewer wrote: "I have zero problems with this video" and another added: "It looks like McDonald's banned secret sauce. Lick th 'fingers."
In a response to Newsweek, a McDonald's Australia spokesman said: "Our customers love to go to any McDonald's branch and get the same great flavors they know and love. We only use the highest quality potatoes to produce our famous, fried chips. In an excellent and healthier mixture that includes canola oils and sunflowers. "
