ZDF is the strongest broadcaster

They scored points with broadcasts on the Bundestag election, but also with the European Football Championship and shows such as "Wetten, dass ..?": ZDF is back in first place among TV channels - ahead of ARD and RTL.

For the tenth time in a row, ZDF was the single channel to win the year on German television in terms of market share.

As of Monday, the TV station had a 14.8 percent market share this year (plus around 1.2 points compared to 2020), as announced by the station in Mainz.

ZDFneo is therefore in eighth place among German TV programs for the fourth time in a row - with 2.8 percent.

In between are the first of ARD (12.1 percent), then the strongest private broadcaster RTL (7.3), followed by Sat.1 (5.2 percent), Vox (4.6), ProSieben (3.7) and Cable one (3.2).

According to ZDF, its media library also increased again: "With an average of 5.91 million visits per day, usage increased by around 28 percent compared to the previous year." Reached 66.61 million people, it said.

Bundestag elections, European football championships and "Wetten, dass ..?"

According to its own statements, ZDF scored particularly well this year with its broadcasts on everything to do with the Bundestag election.

The Saturday evening show on November 6th, which was initially revived once, had 14.46 million viewers (45.9 percent market share).
