A research team from England, among others, has shed light on whether fears about vaccination are justified.

Fear of infection with coronaviruses and fear of vaccination: Both are currently prevalent among many people.
A new study shows how justified this is.
After a corona vaccination, there was a thrombosis or a heart attack: Almost everyone knows such reports from friends or from social networks. But how should such information be classified? Is it individual cases or even fake news that is making the rounds? Or is the risk of a serious vaccine side effect greater than the authorities tell the public?
Scientists around the world are currently conducting large-scale studies to determine how often serious side effects have actually occurred after the corona vaccination.
One of the most impressive studies on the subject was published in

Ben Reis from Harvard University in the UK and his colleagues had filtered out so-called "epidemiological twins" on the basis of Israeli data from more than three million vaccinated and unvaccinated people.

In more than 800,000 such pairings, Reis and his colleagues compared diseases that were reported in the six weeks after the Biontech vaccination, it says on welt.de.

Kidney failure, heart attack and venous thrombosis: risk increases with corona infection
“In this study, conducted as part of a nationwide mass vaccination, the BNT162b2 vaccine was not associated with an increased risk of most of the adverse events studied.
The vaccine was associated with an increased risk of developing myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) (1 to 5 events per 100,000 people).
However, the risk of this potentially serious adverse event and many other serious adverse events was significantly increased after a SARS-CoV-2 infection,

Based on the study publication, the news portal Welt.de has shown in a graphic how often serious health problems occurred after a Biontech vaccination and after a corona infection.
The researchers had broken these down based on reported vaccination complications
(number of cases per 100,000 people):
Cardiac arrhythmias: after vaccination -6 cases, after corona infection 166 cases
Pulmonary embolism: after vaccination -1, after corona infection 62
Acute kidney failure: after vaccination: -5, after corona infection 125 cases
Heart attack: after vaccination: 1 incident, after corona infection 25 people affected
Deep vein thrombosis: after vaccination.

The risk of complications from Corona itself is far greater than from a vaccination
The results show an increased probability of only one event after vaccination: Shingles occurred 16 times after vaccination in 100,000 people.
An infection with the coronavirus, on the other hand, had never led to shingles.
With regard to life-threatening diseases, however, it can be clearly deduced from the study that the risk from the disease itself is far greater than from a vaccination.
However, it must be taken into account that the above-mentioned vaccination complications and causes of corona deaths reported to the registration authorities cannot always be clearly traced back to the vaccination or the disease.
Other triggers such as infections cannot always be diagnosed and pathologists cannot always fully understand what a person died of after a death.
