Almost 3,000 opponents of the corona measures demonstrated in Munich on Wednesday evening.

According to the police, around 500 officers tried to prevent the so-called walks on Ludwigstrasse and in the district around Siegestor and the university.

Most of the demonstrators did not wear mouth and nose protection and did not keep their distance from one another.

A police spokesman said there were occasional scuffles at barriers, but no major disputes.

Media such as the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation also report clashes between demonstrators and officials.

The protest march is also said to have broken the police chain.

This can also be seen on videos on social networks.

Because people were walking on the lane, car traffic on Ludwigstrasse was temporarily stopped, said a police spokeswoman.

If the initiators of the demo are identified, they could face a fine.

An alliance of several initiatives had previously complained that the cancellation of the planned demonstration on Geschwister-Scholl-Platz in front of the university denied them the right to freedom of assembly.

The organizers did not want to accept an event on the Theresienwiese with a maximum of 2,000 people as an alternative.

According to the police, around 120 people protested against so-called lateral thinkers at the same time on Odeonplatz.

An alliance called for "solidarity instead of oaths" from the left, the Green Youth and other groups.
