Regular viewers of “heute journal” are familiar with it: presenter Claus Kleber says goodbye at the end of the news program with best wishes, usually he looks down for a moment, and he often picks up, like his co-presenter She pushes the notes lying on the curved desk together, then the two moderators turn to each other - and talk.
The sound has long been switched off at this point.
You can see, but you can't hear the last few seconds of the ZDF broadcast.
This is of course intentional.
And yet everyone has probably asked themselves what there is still to be discussed.
Do you both wish each other a nice evening?
Do you make sure everything went well?
Do they share mishaps that the audience didn't notice?
Or are they just talking nonsense to maintain the impression of a conversation?
Apparently the truth lies somewhere in between.
At least if you ask Claus Kleber.
"It has also happened that we have amused ourselves at still standing in the shop window, although we have nothing more to say: Well, now everyone will be wondering what we are talking about," said the journalist. December will moderate his last ZDF news program, the German press agency dpa.
Criticism of politician tactics
The 66-year-old also criticized the tactics of politicians in interviews. "The demon of not answering and evading questions, driven by so-called media consultants, is spreading more and more," said Kleber. “They're probably all getting some kind of training from the same school of thought that persuades them: If you've avoided the question, you've won. But that’s rubbish. ”Spectators noticed that and were annoyed.
When asked how interviews with Olaf Scholz (SPD), who is now Federal Chancellor, went earlier, the journalist said: “This is someone who hardly takes notice of the question.
He waits for the interviewer to stop talking and then rewinds his standard. "A counterexample is Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens):" He doesn't always have a really convincing answer, but he gets involved in the conversation. "
It is not known whether the topic of coached politicians was raised in the seconds after the news broadcast.
