Higher basic tax-free amount

: The basic tax-free amount increases by 204 euros. "For adults, for example, income taxes are only due from a taxable income of more than EUR 9,984," explains the Association of Taxpayers on its website. In other words, single persons only have to pay income tax from a taxable income of more than 9,948 euros per year. The amount doubles for married couples or registered partners to 19,896 euros, as the German Press Agency (dpa) further describes.

Higher tax portion for new retirees:

“Important”, so the advice from the taxpayers' association: “In the case of pension taxation, the taxable pension portion will increase from 81 to 82 percent in 2022.

This means that only 18 percent of the first full gross annual pension remains tax-free.

This proportion applies to the age group of pensioners who will join the group in 2022.

Higher pension expenses deductible

According to the federal government of taxpayers in 2022, a maximum amount of 25,639 euros applies to the consideration of the special expenses. "A maximum of 94 percent of this can be sold in the coming year," says the dpa report. "That means single persons can claim 24,101 euros and married couples or registered partners 48,202 euros for tax purposes."

Exemption from benefits in kind is increasing:

 “As of January 1, 2022, among other things, the exemption limit for benefits in kind will be increased from 44 euros a month to 50 euros,” the taxpayers' association announced on its website. The exemption limit applies to benefits in kind to employees - “for example for vouchers that are given out monthly. The donations can be treated tax-free up to the exemption limit. ”As dpa explains at the point, it is important that it is an exemption limit. “Exceeding the limit by just 1 cent leads to a tax liability for the entire amount donated. It is not permitted to add up the monthly amounts to an annual amount, ”says the report.

That will change for many employees in 2022

Corona bonus is expiring

: Until the end of March 2022, employers can pay their employees a bonus of up to 1,500 euros tax-free and social security-free or grant them as benefits in kind.

Until then, the corresponding regulation as a result of the corona pandemic applies;

From April 2022, taxes and social security contributions will again be due, according to dpa (as of December 8).

Minimum wage rises:

The statutory minimum wage will be increased on January 1, 2022. It rises for all employees in Germany from 9.60 euros to 

9.82 euros per hour

. On July 1, there will be another planned increase to an hourly wage of EUR 10.45. Also for mini jobs

the new minimum wage applies.

"Those who currently earn less, their hourly wages must be increased," reports dpa.

The earnings should still not exceed 450 euros per month.

“If the employment is to continue as a mini-job, the working hours may therefore have to be recalculated.

Otherwise the employment relationship will be subject to social security contributions, ”the report says.
