Dispute over video game escalates - man shoots longtime friend and roommate

What is the charge?

J. Spellmann, 36, is currently on trial in Washington State, USA.

He is accused of having shot his friend and roommate A. Dickson after an argument.

The accused is therefore accused of having committed a second degree murder.

Second degree murder

In the United States, second degree murder is premeditated homicide, but not malicious.

First degree murder occurs when the murder was maliciously prepared.

According to The Columbian, 34-year-old Dickson had been friends with Spellman for 26 years and lived with the defendant in the house of Spellman's parents. Spellman reportedly shot his longtime friend in the chest. Dickson was then taken to a clinic in Vancouver, Washington, but died there from his injuries. Before that, the Defendant Spellman had never committed a criminal offense.

Why did the argument arise?

Spellman and Dickson played Diablo 2 together, which was released as a remaster at the end of September.

The two lived together in Spellman's parents' house, but played in different rooms and communicated with each other via a headset.

Actually, the game should have been password protected so that only Dickson, Spellman and another friend played together.

Then, however, a strange fourth person came into play and stole loot that Dickson and Spellman had not yet found.

Dickson then probably got angry and started yelling and being abusive.

The outburst of anger lasted three to five minutes, according to official reports, during which Spellman told Dickson to calm down or he would be shot.

According to Spellman's affidavit, the defendant then picked up a gun that was lying next to his pc, walked over to the main house, fired a shot in the air, and then stepped inside.

While the accused Spellman was talking to his father, the victim came along and confronted the accused with his previous testimony.

Then Dickson probably approached Spellman, who then shot the victim in the chest.

What does the defendant say about the allegations?

The officers then asked Spellman why he had a gun lying next to his computer at all.

Thereupon the defendant simply replied: “Why not?

This is America. ”The defendant also testified that the victim was angry several times before.

However, the victim would never have used violence.

The incident occurred in Clark County, Washington state on December 15, 2021.

Spellman and Dickson had previously been friends for 26 years.

Spellman is slated to go to court on December 29, 2021.

Recently, a streamer also caused a shit storm with a murder confession.
