(ANSA) - LONDON, DEC 23 - The risk of being hospitalized due to the Omicron variant of Covid is up to 70% lower than the Delta variant. The British health authorities say so.
After some preliminary analyzes, the British Health Security Agency (Ukhsa) arrived at the estimate on the level of danger represented by Omicron. The agency conducted research into cases related to the variant in the UK, according to which "it is estimated that an individual with Omicron is 31 to 45% less likely to end up in emergency room than those infected with Delta and between 50 and 70% less likely to be hospitalized. " The results are broadly similar to the estimates made in two studies by researchers in Scotland and Imperial College London. (HANDLE).
