2021-12-24T07:07:42.729Z

In particular, they consider insufficient the increase of 500 euros announced at the end of November by Olivier Véran.

The midwives are on strike again.

The National Union of Midwives (ONSSF) calls for a "

black week

" from December 24 to 31 to voice the demands of these professionals during the holiday season, after more than a year of regular mobilizations.

Deeming the sector in "

crisis

", the ONSSF considers that the government responses have been "

insufficient

".

Among their demands, a “

real incentive

salary increase

, but also a reform of their status (midwives in hospitals are not considered as hospital practitioners).

They also require a revision of the perinatal decrees of 1998, which govern the number of caregivers who must be present in the delivery room according to the number of births in the establishments each year.

The revaluation of 500 euros, a "

communication effect

"

However, the government recently made a gesture in favor of the profession, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran announcing at the end of November a revaluation of 500 euros net per month for hospital midwives.

But it "

does not make up for the delay taken by the profession and is unequal by excluding territorial midwives and teachers

", deplores the ONSSF in a press release, which had also criticized, at the time of this announcement, an "

effect of communication

”.

These 500 euros indeed include the 183 euros announced at the time of the Ségur de la santé, as well as 240 euros in premiums, which therefore do not enter into the calculation of pensions.

Furthermore, the ONSSF is not satisfied with the negotiations around amendment 5 to the national midwifery convention, including provisions on telehealth or postnatal care.

It is deemed "

too restrictive and does not recognize their work at its fair value,

" according to the union.
