He wanted to spread the Christmas spirit - and took a ticket for it: A driver in Bavaria decorated his car all around with a chain of lights.
When he drove past a police patrol in Mindelheim in the Unterallgäu district on Thursday evening, he was promptly checked.
The Christmas friend now expects a fine, as the police announced on Friday.
The light chain changed the appearance of the car so much that the officials saw this as a danger to road safety, it said.
The man had to take off the glowing holiday decorations before he could continue.
At least the police confirmed that he wanted to spread some Christmas spirit.
However, he did not think about the consequences of his actions.
Police officers reacted in a similarly un-Christmas manner on the A6 between Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern in January 2015 when they discovered a vehicle with a chain of lights.
The lighting was completely relocated around the windshield.
The 29-year-old driver also had to pay a fine at the time.
