Covid: virus runs, 50,599 positives, new record

The virus race does not stop: 50,599 cases of Covid have been identified in Italy in the last 24 hours, a new all-time record since the pandemic broke out almost two years ago. Yesterday there were 44 cases. (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 24 - The virus race does not stop: 50,599 cases of Covid have been identified in Italy in the last 24 hours, a new absolute record since the pandemic broke out almost two years ago. Yesterday there were 44,595 cases, the highest number ever recorded since 13 November 2020 when they were 40,902. Levittime, according to data from the Ministry of Health, are 141, while yesterday they were 168. There are 460,674 currently deposited at Covid in Italy, 30,645 more than yesterday.


   Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total cases are 5,567,644 and 136,386 cases. The discharged and healed are instead 4,970,584, with an increase of 19,804 compared to yesterday.


    There are 929,775 molecular and antigenic swabs for coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy, a record since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 901,450.

The positivity rate is 5.4%, up from 4.9% yesterday.

There are 1,038 (yesterday 1,023) patients in intensive care in Italy, 15 more than yesterday in the balance between entries and exits.

Daily admissions are 102. Patients with symptoms in the ordinary wards are 8,812 (yesterday they were 8,722), or 90 more.
