A surfer was killed in a shark attack off the California coast.
The previously unknown man was discovered on Friday by a female surfer lifeless in the water off the coast of San Luis Obispo County, the Coast Guard said according to media reports.
According to initial investigations, the man had apparently recently been attacked by a great white shark.
The stretch of coast was closed to all water sports enthusiasts and swimmers immediately after the body was recovered.
A surfer was last attacked and injured by a shark in the area in January 2019.
