The Magic Flute

"in French" at the Royal Opera of Versailles

Very high level set

Thus, the duo of Pamina and Papageno, reunited in the privacy of a medallion of light while the rest of the scene is plunged into semi-darkness. Others are more incongruous but so true in their actualization, like Sarastro and his slaves transformed into Uber delivery men. In short, this production strikes a perfect balance between this Singspiel in two acts which takes up themes dear to Freemasonry, and modernity. Another surprise, this choice to add to the original composition contemporary music and sounds which serve as bridges between the paintings, without ever distorting the arias of Mozart. Musically, as always at the Capitol, the ensemble is of a very high standard. We can simply regret that such a beautiful production has only been given nine times. Such a spectacle deservesto be played for weeks on end and seen by all students, from elementary to high school, as the most playful and joyful approach to lyrical art. Catch-up session in Rouen from June 10 to 20

Capitol until December 30
