After December 24th, many last-minute shoppers are in a fix.

We will introduce you to the shopping options for Christmas Day 1 and 2.

Munich - It is one of the most frequently asked questions around Christmas: Can you also go shopping on the 1st and 2nd Christmas holidays - December 25th and 26th?

The first answer is clearly no, as the day is protected as a public holiday and the large department stores are therefore closed.

However, some selected shops also allow their customers to shop spontaneously.

We'll show you where that is possible.

Christmas Day 1 and 2: Pharmacies set up emergency services

Pharmacies in particular are exempt from closure. However, not all shops are open by a long way; on the contrary, depending on the city, an emergency service is set up, through which medication can still be obtained even on public holidays.

These shops can be easily

, but it should be noted that the pharmacies will swap their services with each other during December 25th and 26th.

Unlike pharmacies, bakeries are not exempt from the statutory regulation.

If you still don't want to miss out on fresh bread on the Christmas holidays, you will usually find it in the major train stations.

The Rischart branches at Munich Central Station and Ostbahnhof also serve their customers on public holidays, for example.

The same applies to the drugstores and supermarkets in the railway stations mentioned.

Here, too, customers can still find the very last gifts.

If you only want to do a small purchase, you will of course also find what you are looking for at the local petrol station.

To ensure travel, the petrol pumps remain manned during the holidays.

Speaking of travel: the shops at German airports are also open, making a last-minute stroll possible.

Supermarkets: close early on Christmas Eve

Large purchases for the holidays, however, must be done by Christmas Eve at the latest.

From 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., customers in Bavaria still have the opportunity to purchase the last few groceries, after which the doors of Lidl, Aldi and Co. will remain locked until the morning of December 27, with the exception of some branches at train stations.
