There should be plenty of time for pub visitors in June 2022 to bring out a toast to the Queen.
As the PA news agency reports, the British government is working on plans to allow pubs and bars in England and Wales to open two hours longer than usual for the throne jubilee next year.
Before that, however, the subjects should have a say: A change in the curfew should be preceded by a one-month consultation phase in which the population can express their concerns.
A special passage of law allows the government to extend serving hours on special occasions.
According to the report, pubs could be allowed to fill their guests' pint glasses until 1 a.m. during the festivities in early June instead of 11 p.m.
The British definitely have an extra holiday to sleep off the intoxication: The 70 years of the Queen on the throne are to be celebrated with a multi-day program including a “Trooping The Color” parade.
Preparations are already in full swing.
The Queen also addressed the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne in her Christmas address.
"I hope there will be an opportunity for people everywhere to enjoy a sense of community," said the monarch.
A later curfew could at least help.
