Christmas on the beach, despite the Omikron.
That's fine.
Although the number of infections rose sharply in Australia shortly before the holidays, it is summer down under and the beaches are full.
It's not just locals who have a good time.
A group of Britons celebrates in swimwear - of necessity, because they are stranded due to the corona situation in their home country.
O-tones beach visitors
"There are no flights home. So I'm celebrating as best I can. I love being here. Christmas on the beach, that's a dream."
"What else could we want? Beautiful bodies on the stand, the sand, the water, the sun. Where else should I want to be?"
"I would like to be at home, but I can't. So here we are."
Not all are there for fun.
The public holiday bathing activity means that some cannot free themselves.
For example the lifeguards, who are needed in large numbers with this rush.
OT Adam Thorp, lifeguard
"I have the early shift today and can party later with my family. That's why a lot more people are here on the beach asking if they can patrol at Christmas. And I think: the more, the better."
What is probably unfamiliar to the stranded British: Alcohol is taboo on Bondi Beach.
Which is why the police are increasingly checking to enforce the ban.
