After the death of a 67-year-old woman in Dortmund, her son was arrested.
As the prosecutor announced, the 30-year-old had called the police in the early morning of Boxing Day and claimed to have killed his mother.
Rescue workers found the dead woman in the bed of her bedroom.
According to initial findings, the woman was stabbed with a knife, the public prosecutor said.
The mother and son lived together in the apartment.
The detainee initially gave no information about the motive.
A blood sample was routinely taken from the 30-year-old.
He was supposed to appear before the judge on Monday.
The autopsy of the body is also planned for Monday.
