It happens again and again: Food has to be recalled because of contamination.

Now it hits a sliced goose breast.

Freudenberg - Cover a delicious bread with a slice of goose breast and bite into it with relish - that is not a good idea.

At least if the packaging is from a certain manufacturer and has two specific best-before dates.

The "Smoked Gourmet Goose Breast" from Klaas + Pitsch Fleisch- & Wurstwaren GmbH from Freudenberg in North Rhine-Westphalia was recalled due to contamination.

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety warns against salmonella.

Recall Goose Burst cold cuts: These products are affected

Affected are the 60-gram packs of "Smoked Gourmet Goose Breast" with the best before date 05.01.2022 and 13.01.2022 and the batch numbers L439 and L540.

According to the Federal Office, salmonellae were detected in the sliced meat as part of a self-inspection carried out by the company.

When consumed, the bacteria can cause diarrhea, headache and abdominal pain, malaise and, in individual cases, vomiting.

A slight fever can also occur.

After a few days the symptoms will subside and the infection is over.

The nasty bacteria are often found in raw foods, such as eggs or fish, and often in poultry meat as well.

The Danish company Danaeg Eier recently called back on suspicion of salmonella.

  • Recall: "Smoked Gourmet Goose Breast" from Klaas + Pitsch Fleisch- & Wurstwaren GmbH, 60 gram pack

  • Best before date: 05.01.2022 and 13.01.2022

  • Batch number: L439 and L540

Recall goose breast cold cuts: These supermarkets are affected

According to the company from North Rhine-Westphalia, the contaminated product is sold in Real supermarkets and at the Metro wholesale group.

We strongly advise against eating the goose breast slices.

After an infection and a disease caused by salmonella, a so-called salmonellosis, those affected do not necessarily have to see a doctor.

Usually the symptoms are uncomfortable but harmless.

It is only necessary to compensate for the loss of fluids and electrolytes.

In risk groups, i.e. children or immunocompromised people, more caution should be exercised and the symptoms observed.
