This weekend, the period series "Katrina" starring Al Penning, one of the most promising young stars in Hollywood, aired on Yes.
In the series, Fanning plays Catherine the Great, Empress of the Russian Empire in the 18th century, who married Regent Peter III and over the years took over his throne.
The series provides a creative and comedic interpretation of the lives of the couple and the people around them, and follows Katrina's rise to the throne.
Peter III is played by Nicholas Holt, who starred in "Mad Max: Road to Rage" and "X-Men."
"Katrina" was launched in the US on the HULU streaming service last year, and recently had its second season (both seasons are available to watch yes). For the first season it was nominated for two Emmy Awards, and for its second season it is nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, including in the series category The best comedian and in the acting categories for Fanning and Holt.The series was created by Australian screenwriter Tony McNamara, who wrote the screenplays for films such as "Favorite" and "Crowella".

Fanning (23) began her acting career at the age of two following her sister Dakota, when she starred in the 2001 film "My Name Is Sam" starring Sean Penn. She went on to make films such as "Babylon" by director Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu and "The Wonderful Story of Benjamin Button" with Brad Pitt, and won acclaim for her 12-year appearance in Sophia Coppola's "Somewhere," starring Stephen Dorf. In 2014, she starred as Princess Aurora in the Disney "Millificent" alongside Angelina Jolie, and she also starred in the sequel that came out two years ago.
At an event to promote "Katrina", Fanning said that "the role in the series made me lower my defenses. In working on a drama script there is a possibility to hide behind something. There is a bit of seriousness that keeps you. In comedy the situation is different because you "For it to catch on at the comic level. You have to make sure you are present in the scene."
She said, "The script of the series reminded me of a Shakespearean play. I mean, I had to pronounce each word accurately and in the right accent. It's another layer of text memorization properly. As for the period aspect of the series, Fanning said that "we have very authentic scenery and costumes. There are pros and cons to these classic corsets, but I love fashion and it matters to me what the character looks like.
