Because of freezing wetness and sometimes snowfall, road users, especially in central Germany, have to be prepared for icy roads and sidewalks at the start of the week.
Parts of the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt are particularly affected, said the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.
"The ice situation lasts into the morning and then weakens," said DWD expert Florian Bilgeri.
Disabilities in road and rail traffic are possible.
For Saxony - where the freezing rain spreads eastwards in the course of the morning - the weather service advises you to avoid driving if possible.
The DWD expects that the existing black ice warnings will be extended beyond ten o'clock.
