(ANSA) - SALVADOR, DEC 27 - The toll of floods caused by torrential rains in Brazil has risen to 18, where 58 municipalities are in emergency and 35,000 people have had to leave their homes.
The latest victim is a 60-year-old man drowned in a river in the southern municipality of Aurelino Leal.
In addition to these 18 deaths, there are two missing, 19,580 displaced and 16,001 seeking shelter, bringing the number of people who have left their homes to about 35,000, according to the Civil Protection of Bahia.
Meanwhile, 286 people were injured in November from bad weather.
In total, the people somehow affected by the exceptional weather conditions are 430,869.
