The Federal Chairman of the Police Union (GdP), Oliver Malchow, has criticized parents who use their children "as protective shields against police measures" at demonstrations against the Corona measures.

"These mothers and fathers accept that their child will get into a violent confrontation," Malchow told the Rheinische Post.

He reacted to the clashes between protesters and police officers at a corona demonstration in Schweinfurt, Bavaria.

Several participants tried to break through barriers with massive force on Sunday evening.

The officers used pepper spray and batons.

According to the police, a four-year-old child came into contact with a cloud of pepper spray and had to be looked after by rescue workers because of an eye irritation.

A complaint was filed against the mother, who, according to the police, has come from the lateral thinking scene and took her child with her while trying to overcome a police line.

Four of a total of eight provisionally arrested are to answer in accelerated proceedings in court on Monday.

Malchow complained about increasing radicalization in corona demos.

“The longer the corona issue smoldered, the more frustrated people are.

Unfortunately, there is no end to these conflicts in sight, ”said Malchow.

"I can only appeal to those who want to demonstrate peacefully against the compulsory vaccination: Go to registered demonstrations and do not allow yourself to be instrumentalized by extremists."
