Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev has announced that he is positive for Covid-19 and that he is already in isolation.
"I am currently in Barcelona and unfortunately I tested positive - wrote the 24 year old, fifth in the ATP ranking on twitter - I have placed myself in isolation and respect all protocols under the supervision of doctors. I am vaccinated and I am preparing for the Atp Cup and the Australian Open. Now I need to recover and I will only go to Melbourne when it is safe for everyone. "
Rublev participated in the Abu Dhabi exhibition tournament along with Rafa Nadal and Canadian Shapovalov, both of whom are currently positive.
For them, participation in the ATP Cup, starting on January 1st, is now out of the question, but the first major of the season, which begins on January 17th, is also at risk.
