Covid-19 in France: 256 new deaths, hospitals under pressure

The government will take new arbitrations while the meteoric surge of the Omicron variant is reflected in an incidence rate (the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past week) never reached since the start of the pandemic.

More generally in France, 16,921 Covid-19 patients are currently treated in hospital, while there were 16,365 on Sunday and 15,918 last Monday.

Among these patients, Public Health France has 3,333 patients in critical care, against 3,299 on Sunday and 3,025 on December 20.

The agency also recorded 1,634 new hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, a figure up from last week when 1,466 new patients were registered.

256 new deaths are also to be deplored, bringing the total of deaths to at least 123,000 in France.

If over a week, daily hospitalizations are stable, the number of patients in critical care has increased by + 10% and daily deaths in hospital by + 14%.
