Important changes to mini-jobs will come into force as early as January 1, 2022.

This also affects many employees.

An overview of the most important changes.

Anyone who

earns a

little extra money

with a

mini job

in

2022 can

expect some changes at the beginning of the year.

Both 450-euro jobs and short-term employment of up to three months are affected.

For many mini-jobbers, the wage or salary increases.

But also with the health insurance or tax ID, some points have changed, which employers in particular should not miss.

1. Statutory minimum wage is increased

First things first: The statutory minimum wage will be increased on January 1, 2022.

It rises for all employees in Germany from 9.60 euros to

9.82 euros per hour

.

On July 1, there will be another planned increase to an hourly wage of EUR 10.45.

Mini-jobbers may then have to adjust their number of hours in order not to exceed the earnings limit of 450 euros per month.

The minimum wage could soon rise even more significantly: The draft coalition agreement of the Ampel government provides for an increase to 12 euros per hour.

2. Information on health insurance

From January 1, 2022, employers must

indicate

the

health insurance of short-term employees

when registering for social security.

"Proof can be, for example, a certificate from the statutory health insurance company or the employee's private health insurance company, but also a copy of the insurance card," the mini-job center informs in a blog post.

3. Feedback on short-term employment

From January 1, 2022, after registering a short-term mini-jobber, employers will receive feedback from the mini-job center as to whether the employee has already started short-term employment in the same calendar year.

These

pre

-employment periods are important for employers, as short-term employment may last a maximum of 3 months or 70 working days per year.

"However, this notification only contains information on whether there are previous employment periods, but not to what extent," said the mini-job center on its blog.

The latter must then be asked by the employees.

4. Reporting the tax ID of commercial mini-jobbers

Another important innovation for mini-jobs: From 2022, employers will have to have their

tax identification

number as well as their

tax number

(also known as tax ID or IdNr)

of commercial

mini-

jobbers

electronically to the mini-job center.

This 11-digit number is only given once in a lifetime and remains permanently valid.

It can be found on the last tax assessment, among other things.

The

coalition agreement of

the new Ampel government also provides for an increase in the mini-job earnings limit.

However, the timing is still unclear.
