The passengers on board the luxury cruise ships "Europa" and "Europa 2" had certainly not imagined the end of the year like this: The ships have to cancel or change their planned trips after several corona cases on board.
"During routine tests on board the" Europa "and" Europa 2 ", we identified cases of Covid-19," announced the company Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, according to the dpa news agency.
The people affected are doing well, "they have no or only mild symptoms," it said.
The company did not initially provide any specific information on the number of infections.
Those who tested positive and contact persons were immediately isolated from one another on board.
"It is planned that the people who tested positive will be disembarked in Dubai and placed in quarantine here, where they will be looked after by a medical service provider," said the company.
On Tuesday afternoon, both ships had already arrived in the Arabian Sea off Dubai.

All employees and passengers on board the ships are said to have been vaccinated at least twice.

Originally the »Europa 2« was supposed to sail from Dubai to Mauritius with around 280 guests and 380 crew members over Christmas and New Year's Eve.

The »Europa« wanted to head for Mauritius and the Maldives with 240 passengers and 280 crew members over the holidays.
Following the station in Dubai, she will continue her journey to the Maldives.
