Covid: 78,313 new cases, never so many since the beginning of the pandemic

There are 78,313 cases of Covid identified in Italy in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday there were 30,810 cases.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, the victims are 202 while yesterday they were 142. There are 1,034,677 molecular and antigenic swabs for the coronavirus carried out in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 343,968.

The positivity rate is 7.57%, down from 8.9% yesterday.

There are 1,145 patients in intensive care in Italy, 19 more in 24 hours in the balance between entries and exits.

Daily admissions are 119. Patients with symptoms in ordinary wards are 10,089, or 366 more.

Infection boom in many regions across the country.

VENETO - 

New boom and record since the beginning of the pandemic, in Veneto, on cases of positivity to Covid with 7,403 cases recorded in the last 24 hours, a record figure since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the report of the Veneto Region, the number of infected people has risen to a total of 617,653 since the beginning of the epidemic. The casualties rise to 12.3336 (+29). The surge is probably linked to a lower registration rate due to the holiday slowdown. In fact, in recent days, the new cases amounted to over 2 thousand units.

LOMBARDY -

With 224,557 swabs carried out, the number of new Covid cases registered in Lombardy is 28,795, with a positive rate rising to 12.8% (yesterday 11.4%). Intensive care patients (+6, 193) and wards (+159, 1,698) are on the rise. There are 28 deaths, bringing the total to 34,980 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. As regards the provinces, 12,235 positives were reported in Milan (of which 4,671 in Milan city), 2,024 in Bergamo, 2,238 in Brescia, 1,452 in Como, 771 in Cremona, 746 in Lecco, 811 in Lodi, 693 in Mantua, 3,084 in Monza and Brianza, 1,645 in Pavia, 159 in Sondrio and 2,062 in Varese.

VALLE D'AOSTA

- In Valle d'Aosta, 253 new positive cases of Covid-19 have been detected in the last 24 hours, the highest number in a single day since the start of the pandemic. There were 109 healings. The current infected are 1,379, of which 31 hospitalized at the Parini hospital (two in intensive care). This is what is reported in the bulletin released by the Region on the basis of USL data. The death toll since the start of the pandemic in the Alpine region is 487.

CAMPANIA

- Record of tests and new infections in Campania: the number of swabs and cases have never been higher since the beginning of the pandemic. According to the bulletin of the Crisis Unit of the Campania Region, in the last 24 hours, there are 7,181 positive cases out of 104,533 tests examined. The incidence rate falls, yesterday at 7.58%, today at 6.86%. Many deaths, 18, of which four died previously but registered yesterday. In hospitals, the situation in intensive care units remains stable with 35 hospitalizations (-1 compared to yesterday); on the other hand, the number of beds occupied in hospitalization rose to 534 (+18).

PIEDMONT - There 

is a record of infections in Piedmont. In the last 24 hours, the Regional Crisis Unit recorded 7,933, the highest number since the beginning of the pandemic, with a rate of 11.1% on 71,513 swabs performed. The asymptomatic are 5,522 (69.6%). Thirteen new deaths, like yesterday, including one today, while 2,175 are recovered. There is still an increase in hospitalizations: 92 patients in intensive care (+3), 1,118 in ordinary wards (+60). The people in home isolation are 46,686, the currently positive 47,896. Since the beginning of the pandemic, therefore, Piedmont has recorded 466,110 positives, 12,023 deaths and 406,191 cured.

BASILICATA -

 In Basilicata the record of positive covid-19 was recorded: 464 of the 2,494 molecular swabs examined yesterday in Basilicata. This was announced by the Lucan task force, also reporting two deaths and 29 recoveries of people residing in the region. Of the 464 positives, 429 are residents in Basilicata and in particular the most worrying situation is in Matera with 103 cases. There are 49, however, those of Potenza, 43 in Lavello (Potenza) and 32 in Melfi (Potenza). There are 51 people hospitalized with covid-19 in Lucanian hospitals, of which only one is in intensive care.
