While the wave of the Delta variant is not over, Omicron is on the way to asserting itself in France, as in the world.
The Hospital Federation of France warns that "the most difficult weeks are still to come".
This Tuesday, 17,405 Covid-19 patients are thus treated at the hospital, while there were 16,921 on Monday and 16,076 last Tuesday.
Among these patients, Public Health France has 3,416 patients in critical care, against 3,333 the day before and 3,096 on December 21.
The agency also recorded 2,110 new hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, a figure up from last week when 1,661 new patients were registered.
242 new deaths are also to be deplored, bringing the total of deaths to at least 122,900 in France.
The incidence rate (number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past week) logically continues to climb.
By "correcting" the public holiday effect of December 25, the incidence rate is approaching 800. It has increased by 43.3% in one week, with this correction.
⚠️As expected, the incidence rate artificially drops due to the December 25 bank holiday, taken into account for the first time in the calculation.
By "correcting" this holiday effect, the incidence rate is still increasing and it is approaching 800. # Covid19
