The parents of a vaccinated child in Avranches (Manche) lodged a complaint on Tuesday, denouncing an error in the doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 attributed to their daughter, aged about ten, reports France Bleu.

On December 22, the child was accompanied to the Ponts Covid-19 vaccination center, near his home.

It is received by a health professional, who the needle in one of the lines which separate the different categories of people.

She would then have been received by a nurse who would have performed the injection, before realizing that the girl had nothing to do in her box, reserved for adults, according to the radio website.

The child thus received a dose of Moderna, however reserved for over 30 years, because of an increased risk of myocarditis in the youngest.

The vaccine error is immediately reported.

The child was closely monitored for any adverse effects.

While a dose of Moderna is far from toxic to the child, it is not the safest vaccine for this age group.

It had been discarded as a precaution, other vaccines being available.

The child did not have any complications, according to the director of the Avranches-Granville hospital, Joanny Allombert, interviewed by France Bleu.

It also recognizes an error in the management of the lines reserved for the different categories of populations in the vaccination center.

Since then, barriers have been installed to better delimit the different spaces.

This is not the first time that health professionals have made a mistake, even if vaccination errors remain extremely rare, and without consequences for most.

On Saturday December 18, six children received 20 micrograms of Pfizer Comirnaty instead of the 10 micrograms of pediatric Pfizer normally intended for 5-11 year olds, in a vaccinodrome in Le Mans.

They are in a "reassuring" state, the LRA declared on December 20.
